The GenICam standard

uEye GenICam Integration Version 3.90

The GenICam standard

GenICam stands for Generic Interface for Cameras. It offers a universal method for image acquisition and control of cameras – and basically also analog frame grabbers – independently of the technology or manufacturer. The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) has formed a committee of several camera and software manufacturers in 2005 with the remit to define this standard. The first version of the standard was released in 2008. IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH is a contributing member of the GenICam group and actively participates in further developing the standard.

The current version of the GenICam definition and a reference implementation of the GenAPI are available at www.genicam.org. There you will also find detailed information on the GenICam structure.
